AFL - 160 Digital / Dry Contact Closure Fiber Optic Link

Actual Size: TX: 75 * 60 * 23mm, RX: 115 * 90 * 23mm (Box Only)

  1. AFL - 160 Digital/Dry Contact Closure Fiber Optic Link is the right choice when you need to:
  2. Transfer 16 Digital Control Signals from a Noisy Environment
  3. Isolate Digital Signal from High Voltage Sources
  4. Control Systems over a Long Distance
  5. Reduce Wiring Costs
  6. Get Rid of Interferences and Spikes
  7. Get Fast and Accurate Response to your Control Signals

The AFL - 160 Digital / Dry Contact Fiber Optic Link can Transmit 16 Contact Closures or 16 TTL Signals over a Long Range at a 93kHz Update Speed. The AFL - 160 was primarily designed for Industrial and Control Applications. The product is sampling the 16 Digital TTL Input at a rate of 93kHz Simultaneously and Transmit all Control Signals to 16 Digital Outputs. Those Outputs are available as 16 Form C Relay Contacts or as 16 TTL Compatible Outputs (0 - 5V or 0 - 3.3V). A “LINK” Led and Relay Contacts Enables the user to know if the Link was Disconnected and take any Precautions needed to halt the System.

Input Sampling and Output Updates may be Synchronized to External Circuits or Controllers by using the “SAMPLE” Pin at the Transmitter or at the Receiver.

  1. The AFL - 160 Consists of the Following Components:
  2. A Digital Input Fiber Optic Transmitter: AFL - 160 / TX, with TTL Compatible Inputs.
  3. A Digital Fiber Optic Receiver: AFL - 160 / RX. This Unit can be configured with Dry Contacts (1 Change-over per TTL input) or with TTL Outputs.
  4. Upto 3km of Multi-mode Glass Fiber or 50km of Single-mode Fiber (optional).
  5. Optical Budget with Single-mode Transceivers: 30dB
  6. 2 Power Supplies of 12V: One for each side.
Can be modified to 24V supplies + DIN Rail Holder for DIN Rail Mounting.

The Link is Connected between: TTL Inputs at the Transmitter & Relay Contact Outputs at the Receiver

  1. Features:
  2. Excellent Signal Isolation. Prevents Ground Loops and Computer Spikes.
  3. Very Fast Response: upto 100µSec at TTL version, 1 - 2mSec @ Contact Closure Version.
  4. Transfers Digital Control Signals to distances of upto 1.6km (50km with Single-mode Transceivers).
  5. Input Signal: 0 - 5V @ DC - 20kHz.
  6. 2 Versions Available: TTL Outputs or Contact Closures.
  7. Very Small Size: TX: 75 * 60 * 23mm, RX: 115 * 90 * 23mm
  8. Low Cost
  9. Relay ON / Off Time: Hold: 2mSec, Release: 0.9mSec (Average)
  10. TTL Output On / Off Time: 50nSec (Rise or Fall Time)
  11. TTL Output Update Rate: 93kHz.
  12. Form C Contacts: Can be connected as Normally Open or Normally Closed.
  1. Advantages:
  2. Low Noise Transfer of Digital Data, particularly Beneficial in Electrically Noisy Environments and for Transmission over Long Distances.
  3. For Medical Tests: The Patient is Isolated from Data Acquisition System and from any Other High Voltage Source.
  4. Optional Single-mode Transmitter and Receiver allows 30dB Optical Budget for Longer Range.
  5. Isolates delicate Test Equipment from Computer generated Noise and Spikes: Noises from Computer do not return into your System.
  6. Eliminates the formation of “Ground Loops” (when Two Instruments are connected to Separate Power Lines or have a difference between their Ground Voltage Potentials).
  7. Total Protection of Signal Processor’s Input Stage from Lightning, High Voltage Spikes, etc.
  8. Replaces bulky multi-wire cables with Compact Fiber Optic Cable - especially important when rewiring existing ducts.
